NUMBER OF THREADS

The number of threads in cashmere raises many questions, here are some explanations from our co-founder Stéphanie which should answer them:

The thread count of a cashmere sweater is the number of threads used to make a sweater and defines its thickness and weight. The higher the thread count, the thicker and warmer the cashmere sweater, the higher its price will be due to its weight.

A cashmere sweater can reach up to 24 threads. Contrary to what one might think, the number of threads is in no way a guarantee of the quality of cashmere, it is only a question of thickness and therefore warmth.

A 2-ply cashmere sweater is a sweater with a "basic" thickness, which can be worn in all seasons, even in summer since cashmere has the particularity of being a thermo-regulating fiber, therefore very pleasant to wear on warmer days than in winter.

A 4-ply or higher cashmere sweater is a chunky knit sweater that is worn in the middle of winter
